Project overview
Radium was approached to work with Clemson University on taking the existing auditorium and making it function appropriately for the needs of the faculty and students. With the growth of the University, it is important that they can use the space for an everyday classroom.
There were many concerns that Clemson expressed from the start. There are no outlets or tabletops for the students to use this space as a classroom and that the students/ audience in the back of the room could not hear the presenter at the front of the room.
Radium worked with an acoustics consultant and mechanical engineers to address the concerns of not being able to hear in the back of the room. There were many changes to the room, like having less absorptive materials and adding in reflective materials for the sounds at the front of the room to travel to the back.
Radium worked with a seating consultant and electrical engineers to address the other concerns and transform the auditorium to a space that can be used for everyday classes and be comfortable for the students.
